I know schools make you do it in years 10 and 11; however, our sixth form made us do work experience also. I actually ended up being sent to the national trust and an art shop.
Was this even legal? We were over 18. Obviously they made us apply as 'volunteers' rather than work experience, so legally we wouldn't have a leg to stand on. However, I was thinking about reporting them to Ofsted- not that the beaurocrats will actually do anything with it if I did…

As far as im aware, it isnt illegal.
Doing a bit of voluntary work isnt bad though surely? At least its something to put on your CV/UCAS application.
