    Angela Merkel said Integration in Germany is an utter failure

    Something like .. Angela Merkel sagte, Intergration war in Deutschland ein heillosiger Misserfolg ???

    This is a typical use of the subjunctive (Konjunktiv I) in indirect speech

    The sentence would read: 'Angela Merkel sagte, in Deutschland sei Eingliederung ein völliges Versagen'

    or 'Angela Merkel sagte, dass in Deutschland Eingliederung ein völliges Versagen sei'

    I'm not German so there might be some issue of context but I'm 90% sure they're right. If you need any more help on the subjunctive just PM me
