BTEC Extended diploma in IT (Uni Question)

When applying to Uni, does the diploma restrict you to courses which revolve around the Btec? i.e Computer related degrees only?

If you aren't interested in doing computer related subjects, why are you doing (or done) the BTEC qualification?

To answer the question, you are probably able to get into courses that involve creativity like Media Studies, Computer Animation and Games, but there are more (in my opinion) respected degrees like Computing, Computer Science and these ones branch out into specific areas like Artificial Intelligence, Forensics etc.
It does pretty much restrict you to computing based subjects but there's a little bit of wiggle room if you can connect your course to other areas. I studied a BTEC and studied computer science and psychology at university and some of my BTEC friends went on to study business and music tech. It depends entirely on the university and what other qualifications and interests you present them with.

What course areas were you hoping to apply to?
