With all the bad press do you think the job of children's entertainer is scarred? For example I know many parents who refuse to hire one to do magic tricks, clown tricks etc because they believe they are all pedophiles.

You know some stupid parents then.

I would say it probably is a little bit scarred but nowhere near as badly as priests or scoutmasters for example.

People still go to catholic churches and let their children go to scouts/cubs etc.

It's been tarnished by a minority, but everything has its minority that lets it down: Radical terrorists for Islam, radical feminists for Feminism, the militant Black Panthers for Civil Rights.

And in this case we have the reputation of child entertainers tarnished by a minority of paedophiles. People can sometimes be quick to buy into paranoia, especially through media scares, but most people retain common sense.

That's an interesting question, I've never really thought about it.

At a few of the parties I had when I was younger at the ages of 4-7, my parents hired a child's entertainer, this was in the late 1990s (before the PC brigade were in full force!). They did for my sister as well and she's a few years younger (early 2000s).

But I do think the assumption is unfair, people are innocent until guilty. Some parents are fiercely protective and easily influenced by their friends, so who knows.
