I am in AS and coming to the end of it. I realised I made a bad choice choosing my subjects which are As maths, business and btec IT. I also am retaking gcse English. From my opinion, these subjects look fairly weak and I think I wouldn't get much UCAS points from it affecting my university choices. I would like to ask you guys whether this is a good idea. If I do retake, I would be able to do 4 a-levels as I should be passing my gcse english. Also, I absolutely dislike IT and business which I would not do if i was to retake the year.

The most important thing is that you are doing subjects which you enjoy, not ones which "look good". I'm certain you get the same UCAS points over every subject i.e. get a B in one A-Level you'll get the same UCAS points if you get a B in any other subject.

I re-chose my A levels after my first year. It was a great decision. It's a lot easier to do well when you enjoy what you are studying.

Yh that's why i want to retake the year, my results are not going to be good because i left revision to the last minute and i have learnt from this. I will revise 2 months before my exams next year. I also dont like business and it which i feel demotivated in so i would not want to study these two.

Well if you feel you would be committed to it next year then I would say retake. If you get poor grades this year then there is not point in continuing unless you retake. It's difficult now but it seems that you are committed in which case fair play to you and wish you the best of luck.
