Well, I've got a little problem here. I know I've put a lot of effort to get into Pembroke (Oxford) to study PPE, but my mind has just changed, yes even before the uni life begins. What if I'd like to transfer to a US uni? Is it an easy thing to do?

Well, maybe I shouldn't think about it. Oxford is so good, American ones just can't compete! huh? but why do I miss this American friend so much?

If you've got an unconditional offer from Oxford, then IMO you'd be pretty crazy not to go there! But that's my opinion. You are very fortunate to have that.

Thanks very much! I think I will go there... but just see how I feel in the first year. To be honest, I'm a tiny bit worried about whether Chinese will get used to the life there. Not unconfident, just unsure... sigh, constantly missing someone

Where are you now then?? In US??

btw- i don't think you have to worry about chinese ppl adapting to the UK...the only problem you may have is the missing ppl issue.

The server is too busy, so I don't mind writing some more. Always dream of going to Oxford and then doing something great afterwards. However, I met this boy 3 weeks ago, and my outlook on life consequently changed... Don't need to say more, do I?

Fair enough...but i don't mean to be patronising...but is three weeks long enough?? Besides....you still have a few months till you have to make your decision, so see how things go first, (i'm assuming you're an overseas student so July 1st deadline for you) and then you can decide whether or not it's serious enough to make your uni decision based on it.

you can always go on exchange to the US if you really like him after a year.

oxford is great. don't throw away your chances.
you're bound to meet lots of nice guys there.

btw, i'm a chinese. i was born here though. but there are lots
of chinese who come here from HK, Singapore etc,
so you shouldn't have a problem.

yep, missing someone is tough. but i wouldn't turn it down if i were you.

just have a look at the exchange schemes available for your course/college.

i went to canada for a year on exchange and it was pretty cool.

You should be fine. Just please promise me one thing...don't hang around in a group with lots of other chinese people. Spread your wings out a little. I'm not saying you, as a person, will but a lot of chinese people i've encountered tend to be unwilling to mix with other people.

You shouldn't have a problem fitting in as long as you don't do the above.

Thanks Mysticmin, very important reminder! I'll certainly keep that in mind and of course, better my English first!
