Sorry if this is the wrong section.

    First year - 120 credits.

Say you fail a module 30-39% - some unis offer a marginal fail.
Say you then use this marginal fail for this particular module.

Do the credits within this module still go towards the 120 needed to proceed onto the next level, in this case level 5.

    Sorry if this is unclear,
    Thanks.

Yes, they still go towards the 120 to give your overall mark for the module.

Also, in my uni for example if that module you failed was not a core/compulsory and you still got 40% overall then a retake is not necessary.

However as far as I know retakes are mandatory for core modules.

Completely dependent on your uni. Ask your tutor.

Ok I got a marginal 3rd what it meant that I already had a 3rd class degree(final year) but if I retook the exam I failed and passed I would get a grade higher (2:2 I did and did) so I recon you have a a fail but if you retake the unit you failed you can pass

What happens if you then go on to fail a core module again after resitting it

Every University marks courses differently and has different systems for devising a final grade. The only way to get a sensible answer to this question is to talk to someone at your own Uni.

If you're lucky the uni will let you retake the whole year again or you may have to drop out unfortunately, but you would only need 40% for the exam to progress

But I'm using my Uni as a basis for this information, and I agree with the other posters who say speak to someone at your uni, like your advisor or something.

Try not to worry too much about it.
