ok so i was round at my grandmothers, i only live across the road and asked her if i could borrow some dettol spray which kills cold/flu as i saw it in her bathroom she had several sprays. She seemed angry and just said 'No'. I was like how come lol she said 'im not lending ANY cleaning stuff because your mum lent it and never brought it back'. I said I would do and she said 'no you wont you'l forget', She said 'you can go out and buy your own'. So I left it but she seemed really annoyed at me an off ish after.
Shes usually really generous and has lent my whole family money so it got me thinking is it classed as unreasonable for some reason to ask to borrow cleaning stuff?
Its easy to buy but just wondered why it made her so angry

I don't think asking to borrow cleaning stuff is unreasonable personally. Probably shouldn't have pushed it though, if she said no that should be it.
Is a bit weird that she's normally generous though. Err, having a bad day?

Sounds like there was some history there you don't know about. Perhaps your Mum keeps borrowing cleaning stuff, or she's fed up of lending your family things like money and this triggered that bad feeling?
From an objective point of view, it's a perfectly reasonable request, so she was being unfair to take whatever it was out on her Grandchild. I would lend Dettol to any random person on the street who asked.Last edited by Octohedral; 15-05-2013 at 01:37.
