I have a part-time uni job and i accidentally forgot to turn up to one of my overtime shifts the other day. It was a 3 hour shift and I swear it was a complete accident! It was written on my calander and everything I've never forgotten to turn up to a shift before, but my boss doesn't like me and picks on every little mistake I make. This was a big mistake and i'm really worried- can a place fire you for forgetting one shift? I feel I am a good worker usually, just had a slip that I will never repeat from now on

have you apologised profusely as your mistake? you wont lose your job just for that ... unless your manager is a right pain..
make sure it doesn't happen again and perhaps turn up for work early next time and lay low

Do you have a handbook or look at your contact and it should say what happens if you " no show" I suspect nothing more then a verbal warning for a first offense even less so as its over time.

Well, it was accidental so I don't see how you should get fired.
Maybe your manger'll give you a warning..
