I'm applying for my DLA this year, on account of Asperger's, chronic depression and anxiety, and tier-4 anorexia. My social worker has told me that I'll more than likely qualify, but that, with upcoming benefit reforms, DLA will soon no longer exist.

If DLA is ported to a new system of benefits, will I automatically receive the equivalent new benefits, or will I have to reapply?

For you DLA no longer exists. No new applications are being accepted for it. You will be assessed for its replacement the personal independence payment. Look it up on YouGov for how it works.

Ah, thank you! I'll ask my social worker about it.

It depends where the OP lives.

Apart from people whoa re terminally ill, no-one will automatically qualify for the new benefit.
