I am about to complete my Access to Teaching diploma. Within this I have taken level 2 Maths, English, IT and Science and also level 3 Human Biology and Literature. I am going on to do an English and Theatre joint honours degree. I plan to teach Drama, therefore wish to do a secondary PGCE afterwards. However, at school I was... lets just say not interested so I never achieved my Maths, English or Science GSCE above grade C. I understand for secondary they do not require me to have the Science but they do the English and Maths. Now, am I correct in saying that my level 2 equivalents are not going to be accepted.... even though I will have an Access diploma with them on it and i will also have completed a degree, they will still want the 'actual' GCSE's?? Kind of frustrating if I have done my equivalents. But if this is indeed the case I need to be looking into taking them alongside my degree. Also, would it be English Language GCSE or English Literature GCSE I should retake? One more thing, IGCSE?? The international GCSE, if I had IGCSE's in Maths and English would these be accepted as I have seen these available for home study . If anybody can help shed some light I would be very greatful.

It would probably be better for you to email some universities that you may want to do your PGCE at, and see what they say.
With regards to home study though, I studied GCSEs through ICS. Good luck!

Yeah there is that option and as for ics, they only offer English GCSE as IGCSE... which is where half my confusion is lol! But thank you for responding.
