Well I went through a phase of drinking loads of water (about 2.5litres a day) although I had loads more energy, I still got the cramps. Now I would say I drink about 2-3 glasses a day.

Yes when I first got it I had it looked at, they did lots of tests but couldn’t find a problem, and since then as its not particularly serious so I haven’t done anything about it.

All I was really wondering is, if other people got it and if it was simply an unusual symptom of being dehydrated.

couple of things. Firstly 2-3 glasses of water a day is NOT even nearly enough so yes you are probably dehydrated, whether this is a symptom of that i don't really know. However i wouldn't assume it's not serious, lower back could be connected with your kidneys thus the whole dehydration thing fits, but if you tried drinking more and it didn't help then i'm not sure. My advice would be to go back to your doctor, or ask to see a different doctor, and BE PERSISTENT. if you're in pain then that is a pretty good indication that something is wrong

Do you do much excersize? Muscle cramps during excersize can be a result of dehydration.

I know I properly should make an appointment as its been going on for a few years, but seeing as it only happens randomly for a few mins every week I never assumed it was worthy of a doctors appointment.

Plus I believed my mum for years that it was connected to how much I drink, but seeing as its no different if I only drink 1 glass of water a day ( I know its bad) compared to drinking say 6.

to be fair though even drinking 6 glasses of water a day is not a great deal, especially now that the weather is warmer. on an average day i drink way over 6 PINTS of water. have you tried drinking squash. it's good because it tastes nice so you may find it easier to drink more and it is pretty much all water

I only drink about 2 glasses of water a day but i've never had cramps. Maybe its not related to dehydration?

yep, whenever i don't drink enough water i get this.
apparently to do with your kidneys working harder as they are removing more toxins from the blood as it is not diluted with water. it helps to drink water even though it is not removed.
although, your case sounds more severe. i would say get a specialist to check it out. something is not right.

how can you people drink 1-2 glasses a day in the summer! I drink over 2 liters a day when im not doing anything, if i excersize, depending on for how long, i can drink anything up to 7 liters a day in the summer.
