I'm currently doing my as levels, and I'm still really unsure of what I want to do.

I was contemplating dentistry, but decided to forget about it as I didn't think I would get the grades. I was wondering if I ended up with good enough grades this summer to apply for dentistry, would I be able to get enough work experience and do the UKCAT before I sent off my application, or would I need to wait another year?

You could probably do your UKCAT as long as all the dates in your local centre weren't full up/you're prepared to go a bit further away for it. Not sure about work experience though, even applying now might be pushing it a bit. If you're serious you should apply to loads now and try to get some - it can't really hurt to have done it even if you don't apply but if you don't get anything organised then you'll probably regret it later. Start some volunteering etc in the meantime just in case, anyway that looks good on any personal statement whether you go for dentistry or not

I think you would have to wait for another year. Since Medicine and dentistry courses are competitive and take longer process for application. Gap year is decent option, gives you the chance to gain some work experience, save some cash, do travelling or chill in between. It also give you more life experience and make your application stand out more.
