Prospective Social Work Student. watch

Have any mature students out there managed to gain a place on a Social Work Program without meeting the specified academic entry requirements but on the strength of relevant work and life experience? I've applied to do an Hons Degree in Social Work as a late application and I am due to sit 2 Highers next month (psychology & English) I have also completed two SCQF Level 9 standalone modules at UWS and passed them both with high marks (Alcohol, Drugs & Addiction & Drugs: Policy & prevention). I also work part-time for both SW Alcohol & Drug Support and Addiction all of which have sone relevance in the social work field. Do you think I have much hope as the entry requirement is four Highers :/

Hi not sure how it works in Scotland but in England the new social work guidelines dictate the requirements for us, which for mature students is Maths & English at GCSE C or above (a few will still accept level 2 I have found only one near me) and an Access to HE course. I have 12 years experience in social care settings and they do take that into account but I still need to meet the requirements without meeting them I will not get a place, but it may be different in Scotland. Good Luck
Have you ever experienced racism/sexism at uni?
