    i'm taking c3 and c4, and i really want to use pencil and i just work quicker and it makes it easy to rectify a mistake. CAN I DO THIS? it doesn't say anything about what to use here is the latest past paper: http://www.edexcel.com/migrationdocu...e_20120621.pdf

    People do use pencil and their papers are marked just like the rest!

    Your exam paper is scanned and sent electronically to the markers. One problem with pencil is that it doesn't rub out as well as you think and the scanner can pick up on enough of the rubbed out stuff which then magically re-appears in the scanned version. It makes your corrected work impossible to read. They are supposed to request the paper original if they can't read the scanned version.

    Another examiner concern is that your work can be modified by other people after the exam, opening up potential for cheating and other problems.

    One small risk you run is rubbing out working that would earn you method marks (if you don't replace it with better working)

    You are supposed to use pen but use pencil if it's going to be a big benefit to you.
