GCSE's & A Levels watch

    • Thread Starter

    Hi all, so let me give you my current situation. I'm currently taking my GCSE's & I feel confident that I will achieve what I am aiming for.

    English lit - A
    English Lang - A
    Core science - A
    Additional science - A*
    Geography - A*
    Spanish - A
    Religion - A*
    Maths - A*

    Additional maths (FSMQ) - A (max)
    CiDA+ - B (equivalent)
    BTEC work skills - pass (B equivalent)

    I am interested in taking maths, biology, chemistry and then either physics or English literature to full A-Level. I regret not taking triple science at GCSE.

    So my question to you is: assuming I achieved A*AAA at A-Level, would a top university consider my application when I have only 8 (9?) 'real' GCSEs. Thanks for any help or insight.

    yes, now leave the arrogance to me and get some sleep

    A pass is a C equivalent by the way.

    Pass = C
    Merit = B
    Distinction = A
    Distinction* = A*

    Anyway, you know you're fine.

    Sorry I didn't mean to seem arrogant lol, I don't want to seem like one of those people who try to boast off their grades to people to boost their own ego.

    It's just that I see all these threads about people's applications not being accepted when they achieve very good A Level grades and also have a lot more GCSEs than me.

    Oh and for the Btec work skills thing, it's a pass or fail qualification and the pass is supposedly the equivalent of a B.

    Universities should only look at your AS/A2 levels as far as I know, the only exceptions are Oxbridge and LSE as well as medicine at research universities who will look for 9 GCSEs...I'm in the same position, I'm doing 7 and a BTEC:s wish I moved to grammar before my GCSEs rather than wait till after...
