    Hello,

I've recently been looking to go on an archaeological dig in Italy or Greece and due to my age (17) there's only a few places that will allow me to attend. I discovered a small time company in Sicily (www.arkeos.eu) who have offered me a place on one of the 2 week courses.

My issue is my family thinks its highly dangerous for me to go on my own to Sicily (flying from London) and there not sure the company itself looks legit. Personally I think after speaking to the people it just looks small time, and I can't really see that there will be that many dangers apart from the language barrier at some times. Plus if we all lived our lives in fear of 'what ifs' we'd never do anything.

Just curious about other people's opinions

    Thanks

I think you should do it! You're gonna regret it if you don't. Plus you need to be doing something over the summer and this seems a really good opportunity, especially if you're in to archaeology.

I guess it may be tough to convince your parents but I don't see how it's any more dangerous than walking to the shop. You'll either make it back alive or you won't! haha

I've just checked out the website link, and my gut feeling is they're legit. Obviously though you need to decide if you feel comfortable, as they are obviously a small company.

I'd say go with it. You'll regret it if you won't! You can always ring your family to let them know how you're doing and everything ! It's your life, not theirs.
