Whats the longest time you spent away from your parents/family before you moved out for good/ went away to uni ?

Did you choose it or did you have to spend this time away?

And how old were you at that point?

I'm just curious to see, because I went on a week long geography trip in February to the other end of England. One person was 17 and hadn't spent more than about 24 hours away from their parents (not that that's a bad thing). But someone else and I had been on week/fortnight holidays without our parents before !

Longest I'd spent away was a little over 2 weeks. But I got used to doing stuff myself throughout 6th Form as my parents were very busy so I felt somewhat prepared for life away from them. It turns out it really was no struggle, I don't think I've really experienced homesickness at all this year.
