    Be more specific. There have to be at least 30 different Trades. Do you want to cook food, look at radar screens or drive ships?

    Officer or rating?

    On the whole it can be a very good career - there are plenty of benefits to being in the armed forces, as well as the obvious downsides. I'm only a university cadet, so I'll leave it to more informed people to give you specific information, but from what I have gathered some points to consider are;

    - What you want to do afterwards. It is rarely a life-long career, though it will open door depending on your trade.
    - Family. Can you juggle family and the likelihood of being away for six months at a time?
    - Do you want a land or sea based job? There is no guarantee of either, but certain disciplines have a lot more of one than the other.

    You're not being particularly helpful in your posts, please post specific questions so that people have half a chance at answering them. You've alluded to wanting to be a Pilot in the Royal Navy, is this the case?
