    Hello,

Please can someone clarify whether a principal legal assistant is a lawyer in the UK?

I've been speaking w/ an individual who was a Principal Legal Assistant working in government in the UK and claim they were a lawyer.

I've worked with lawyers and my knowledge is that a legal assistant is a support person who assists lawyers with their cases. So I'm not understanding why this individual is indicating they were a lawyer.

I would appreciate if someone could clarify this for me.

NOTE : The individual's current and updated resume states "Principal Legal Assistant".
