I did my English Literature exam yesterday and thought it went really well, however, after i left i realised that i had forgotten to write about my secondary text. I wrote a really good essay on Wuthering Heights (primary text) yet failed to mention the Scarlet letter (my teacher said we only need to write about 1 paragraph for this)

How badly do you think this will effect my mark? What is the highest you can get without writing about the secondary text

The essay was out of 40 marks and they assessed A01 and A02.

Has this happened to anyone before and how did it effect them?

It depends. I doubt it will affect you massively, but it will probably lose you some marks. My teacher said to focus on primary text mostly, about 75% of your writing, and then 25% on the secondary text. So I suspect something like this is also the case with the marking.
