    So, I'm planning on going to a top 5 economics uni, and for this I obviously need to do some wider reading... I immediately though of the economic Nobel prize winners, as they have clearly made a massive contribution to the field. But how do I find the papers that one these economists the Nobel prize? Where are they!?!?

    And does anyone have some other, high quality economics books that aren't mentioned too frequently?

    Very often the prize is awarded for a body of work, not just a single paper.
    Look up who won, then dig through google scholar to find publicly available papers by them in that specific area, plus look for cheap copies of their books on Abe Books or Amazon.

    The nobel prize website has speeches made at the ceremonies, my Physics teacher has set a few homeworks based on them, here's the economics section. http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/economics/
    I haven't read any of them but the physics ones are pretty detailed, at least they give a reasonable amount of stuff you could use to look it up further, there's also biographies and things about the winners
