Stereotyping an asain (as in a Pakistani, Indian etc)

Hello people, how you all doing

I just want to know what people think of asain poeple in general. As i am Pakistani and alot of white people tell me that i am not what they expect an asain to look, talk etc. For example a white friend of mine asked me why i didnt smell like curry like the other asains:rolleyes: how badly stereotyping is that.

i am very open minded for a muslim, well thats what i have been told anyway:rolleyes:

Just want your opinions on this matter please:smile:

I don't expect anything from an Asian person, the same as I wouldn't expect anything from a white European. Everyone is unique, everyone has their own personality, and anyone who tells you anything else is bigoted and not worth your time.

I hate when people call someone Asian coz their not quite sure where they're from. Asia is a freakin' huge continent - not just India and Pakistan!

Im Pakistani.

I personally hate the "rude bois" or "bad boys" as the call themselves. The worst is a "Desi Bad Boy".

What ********s, I cant stand them. Im talking about the guys whose jeans are around there knees and their hair is just spiked with too much gel. Dont get me wrong, I wear my jeans low and spike my hair a bit, but these guys take it to the next level. When I see someone like that, yes I do stereotype them: not only as a ********, but also as a Disgrace to British Pakistanis such as myself.

Not that Im saying you are one of those people Oh, yeah, I also hate they way some of these guys talk. They're also the type of people who get laughed at when they go back home. Even though I was born here in London, I am sooooo glad I aint lost my traditional Values and Morals unlike these guys.

Sorry If I've offended anyone, but its something that really annoys me.

PS. I love London & Karachi equally!

I think if you didnt get the BBC calling them British asians and just british you would lose some stereotyping same with"british muslims"

I've never thought of Asians as smelling of curry, though some of their houses tend to smell that way.

I attend a school o where the majority, about 80% are Bengali and my main problem with them is that they are very narrow minded, and racist.

Also, my view of Somalians is far negative than my view of Asians. Then again its only my opinion.

People who originate from Somalia are called Somalis not Somalians. Maybe if you wasn't so ignorant about them, you'd have a better 'opinion' of them.

It's hardly an error. It's a bit like me being called a Britisher (you still see that in Indian newspapers and the like) as opposed to a Briton. Not to mention that Somali is more of an ethnic term than a term for all citizens of the state. I'd probably avoid calling a white citizen of Somalia a 'Somali'.

To be fair, Somalis or whatever statisitcally are the worst immigrants with crime rates and benefits etc

Oh dear, they've really came out in force tonight

I was pointing that since he didn't even know what to call them, he'd hardly have enough knowledge to form a valid opinion and that he should educate himself.
