I had cystisis a few times which led to a kidney infection, ouch, hmmm until you can get some antibiotics from your doctors, drink lots. (Although that will cause pain when going to the loo) or try some tablets etc from boots or something
Hope you get better soon

To prevent them drink plenty of water, stick to cotton underwear, always pee when you need to instead of trying to hold on and always pee after sex.

Over the counter... there are things you can get from the chemist which have cranberry in them which are meant to help (as is drinking cranberry juice) and the other thing is to drink a lot of water.

I get cystitis all the time, its hell. The doctor said to me that if you get it more than 4 times in 12 months theyll do some more intense tests so make sure you go to the doctor when you can. Other than that, as above!

your supposed to drink a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate dissolved in a glass of water which tastes absolutely disgusting but it decreases the alkanility of your pee and supposedly makes it less painful - same theory as the cranberry juice.

Axon
Over the counter antibiotics;

trimethoprim,
cephalosporins,
Macrodantin,
fluoroquinolone (e.g. ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin)

If all else fails, then mannitol [hehe..]

Um, over the counter antibiotics? I'm pretty sure you need a prescription for those, thus making them not over the counter...

I know some antibiotics interfere with the pil (im on dianette)....so would these?? Im just wondering because i will need to use other methods of contraception otherwise.

Right. That makes using the antibiotics a whole lot harder. Maybe go upto the chemists and ask them what might work?

Mention that you're on the pill when you see the doctor, but the response will probably be that you'll just have to use back up whilst you're on the antibiotics and for 7 days after. (I get the jab so wasn't an issue for me, so wasn't something I asked.)

Oh god, I get those all the time. They are nasty little bastards. Ive been on anti-biotics three times for it but all the other countless times Ive had it I just drink loads and loads to flush it out of my system and it works fine. Ive also used this stuff before which is quite good.

I know everyone is going the whole "DRINK LOTS OF WATER" route but.....I really don't want to have to 'go'

i just drink plenty, it flushes the infection out.

Once you've got rid of it, cranberry pills once a day help prevent another. Cranberry juice + pills are good for UTIs.

And you have to drink lots of water to get rid of it, or it's just gonna get worse and could lead to a kidney infection...which you don't want.

There are plenty of over-the-counter treatments you can use too, but you still have to drink lots!

Cranberry doesn't always help. Search online for Waterfall D-Mannose. I use this stuff now and it's helped me a lot althought i'm still a regular sufferer.

I try not to rely on antibiotics as they never seem to really clear it especially when the useless docs don't read my notes and just give me a 3 day course even though I get UTIs ALL the time.

If I have sex the day of finshing my period I almost always get one.
I just drink like a fish until it goes.
Hope you get better soon!

Drink lots of water, it dilutes your urine and doesn't make it sore to pee.

are you a sexualy active female?

Because if you are, sex can cause it. When the penis thrusts, it pulls the urethra open and lets bugs get in.

Just go to the doctor. You'll be ok.

For the love of god finish your course of antibiotics, drink water, do not drink acidic drinks such as orange juice. Get checked out for kidney infection ( I resent this every day of my life)
