Do university's drop a grade in clearing

Just wondering do grades ever go down in clearing

Some courses at some unis will ask for lower grades, but not all will. Unis know what grades are required to do their course (ie they can gather statistics from people who dropped out/failed, and see if generally people with low A Level grades struggled) so they won't accept people who aren't going to do well.

Depends on the unis, but since the 9k fees, theres been pretty decent unis showing up, and grades drop by more than one at some places. Also depends on the popularity of the course at the given uni.

Yes, and it can be worth ringing up unis which are asking for one our two grades higher than you actually got, especially if you got ABB+. After all, there's no harm in asking, and there has been a drop in applicant numbers which can make unis more lenient.
