Chromatography/Rf value question (measuring distance moved by solution)

When measuring the distance moved by spots of the solution up the chromatogram, do you measure from the top of the spot or from the centre of the spot?

Also, when measuring the distance moved by the solvent front, you measure the distance between the origin line and the solvent front don't you? NOT the distance between the solvent front and the miniscus of the solution?
