Ability to switch courses?

I received, and firmed, an unconditional offer from Bristol for Meng Electrical and Electronic Engineering. However, since I applied I have started to doubt whether it's the perfect course for me. I have been looking at other courses and I think Computer Science and Electronics might be better for my interests. Does anyone know whether it is possible to change courses at any point, or whether I am 'stuck' with EEE? I'm not yet sure whether I definitely want to change, but knowing whether I have the option at all would be nice.

Looking at the website it says

"Students tend to take the same courses for the first two years, providing a grounding in mathematics and computing, analogue electronic circuits and components, communications, electromagnetics, power electronics and control. These underpin more advanced study in subsequent years. You can change between most BEng and MEng courses up to the start of the third year, giving you the flexibility to choose your areas of study. Both courses provide you with a balanced knowledge of the field, with greater specialisation in the final two years of the MEng. You can choose to focus on subjects such as energy management, analogue design and digital electronics."

But I get the feeling that they're just saying that you can switch between the Beng and Meng, not between the different Electrical engineering courses.

Anyone know more and can help me out?

Hi,

The best time to ask for a course change is as soon as possible. As in, now. It is definitely possible to switch courses; in fact, for most things it is 'possible' up until the second week of your degree, and some after but with special circumstances. In any case, do it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! If the course you want to switch into has higher requirements or different requirements for an offer, you may want to take what they say (if it's not an unequivocal 'yes') into account on results day, at which point you should ring them at let them know!

However if it's a lower or same offer, it should be even easier. Since it's a similar course it shouldn't be too difficult. I know several people who managed to switch. But the important thing is to do it earlier rather than later.

Email them and ask RIGHT NOW! As in, after you read this post. Don't delay!

EDIT: Sorry for all the exclamation marks! I'm a bit tired

I was thinking about the exact same swap
As above - do it NOW.

Do not muck-about starting one course and trying to change courses once term has started. Starting Uni is stressful enough - you dont need make it any more difficult for yourself.
