What does 'SAP' mean?

Hi,

I recently went to a graduate recruitment fair and spoke to lots of Recruitment companies who spoke about specialising in 'SAP'

Could anybody tell me what this actually means? I'm finding attaining a clear and simple definition of the term really difficult!

Thanks

SAP is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. In other words is software package that can support many aspects of a business's activities.

SAP can control all aspects of finance such as payables, receivables, capital, cash etc. It can also cover other support activities such as logistics, procurement, HR, etc.

Different companies will have different packages to suit their needs and SAP may only be used for specific functions in certain companies. Large companies may also have their SAP packages customised to suit their requirements. In general SAP's interface is pretty straightforward to learn, however running reports and handling databases can be much more complicated.

There are other ERP's out there such as Oracle.

Hey, many thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure I understand still - could you explain it in plainer English?

When a recruitment company such as this one: http://www.redcommerce.com/ say they are "experts in SAP recruitment", what exactly does that mean in that context?

It means that they provide people who have experience implementing SAP in an organisation.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

In other words you have to have a good enough education in what ever subject the company is looking for.
SAP stands for Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing. It's a large software company that creates enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. ERP software helps businesses manage all aspects of their operations, including:

Finance & Accounting

Sales & Customer Service

Supply Chain Management

Human Resources

Manufacturing

SAP software integrates these different business functions into a single system, giving businesses better visibility, efficiency, and decision-making power.
