TSR and its moral implications

for a 'student forum' i've noticed that there's a lot of strange posting... for instance a thread about fav. mass murderers. as appealing this is to someone like me who is absolutely keen on watching a doc. or something on mass murderers........... ...............................

so .............

TSR an evil or necessity.

TSR like any other other community of people online or offline has its oddballs, strikingly intelligent folk and complete twits.
(But don't refer to them as twits directly or you may get a telling off like I have on several occasions)

Every forum has its uses and every forum can be used for what you refer to as 'strange posting' as well as thought provoking posting. Asking a persons fave mass-murderer may also be quite thought provoking but perhaps something a little bit more productive should be encouraged.

yeah granted... there's a few bright sparks and a few people interested in more acquired things...... but do you really think half the posts on here should be allowed......... e.g:

Illuminati - real or fake

Guys name 5 things you look for in a girl

Pictures of a room full of revision mess

It's the weird ones that make it interesting.

Who doesn't want to log onto TSR and see stuff like this...?

:daydreaming:
Well TSR would be incredibly dull, in my opinion, if it were just about work and administrative stuff all the time. It's good to have a chat once in a while, tbh, that's what I use TSR for 90% of the time
While it is a student forum, it is a forum FOR students rather than a forum to talk about JUST student life, exams etc.

So we are free to talk about anything really, and to be honest stuff like the mass murderers is interesting :P

I think there is a difference between what people say online and what they say in real life. Being online people use that to explore more deviant topics and methods of discussion, to be more of a devils advocate. That's why you get people online who like to push the limits in terms of discussion and humour, people who like to be dark and others who are hateful or troll.
So whether or not it is moral and whether or not it means anything depends actually on how genuine people here are when they say what they say.
TSR wouldn't have as much appeal if it didn't have interesting threads. If it was purely academic, you'd probably find many more accounts with 1 or 2 posts because they were just created to ask questions.

i'm quitting tsr as far as i understand because it's just too mind blowing and i really want real life!
Generally the more intellectual the thread the fewer replies it gets. I rarely bother to check the barren wastes of the Philosophy subsection these days.
