Going red in the face

I've had this problem for a while now. I always go red in the face when I'm in a social situation. This could be talking in a fairly large group of people, answering a question in the classroom, having to talk to strangers or when anyone draws attention to me.

I dunno whether if it's insecurity about myself, shyness or whatever..... I mean I'm not a bad looking guy so i'm not consious of my appearance, I just seem to clam up.

I've tried loads of things to overcome it......bought books to help me stop going red, scoured the internet for help and basically loads of other stuff.

So i'm just wondering what other people think on this. Have you suffered from this in the past or are suffering from it now?

Any help or tips for this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks

hey.. i'm a girl and i have the exact same problem.. have had it all my life.. i turn red for no reason and there's absolutely nothing i can do about it.. it's soooooo annoying especially when it's a situaion where you REALLY dont wanna turn red cuz it looks like you're ashamed/admitting to something you didnt even do... ehm i think the only hing you can do is accept it.. as much as it annoys me i've accepted it now and it makes us unique;-)

so i think as soon as you accept it, other people won't care..
you just need more self-confidence (which i'm lacking too)..
good luck with that..

Hey, I know how you feel, I've had the same problem ever since I can remember. If I got picked to answer a question at school, if I was talking in a big group of people and I contributed to the conversation etc, I would always go bright red. My friends would often comment on how red I'd gone which didn't help AT ALL. The best thing I can suggest is trying to focus on something else to distract yourself, and hopefully it will go away.

If it reassures you any, now that I have started at university, the problem isn't as bad - I do still go red sometimes but not as frequently as I used to. I hope it gets better for you soon, I know how annoying it is! xx

Heh, I'm exactly the same. I'll blush and look embarrassed even if I'm 100% unembarrassed at the situation I'm in.

I just shrug/laugh it off, and I'm ok with that, because I know that I'm not bothered by the situation. I'm confident that it'll go away though.

Same here. I go red at ANYTHING. If I'm annoyed, upset, angry, embarassed, spoken to by anyone, excited, drunk, ill... ANYTHING. It's so irritating!

You're not alone

You're not alone. I have the exact same problem. What makes it worse is when people notice and go "Look! She's going red!". It must be some sub-conscious thing, as I don't have to be particularly embarassed for it to happen.
I have found that my blushing has settled down slightly, I'm a bit more confident since starting Uni so this helps.
Apparently it runs in my family, and my 40-odd year old Uncle STILL blushes. Great.

I used to have the same problem, about 3-4 years ago. I think its something you grow out of as you become more independant and experienced socially. I wouldnt worry about it, most people think its quite cute

i have exacley the same problem, and i really have no idea why i go red, as i am not embarased or anything!! i just dont understand it!! And if someone i know gets embarased, i go red FOR THEM! which is so weird!!
It has kinda got better, but i still do it far to often! And like people expect me to go red in certian situations so i do!
Theres this boy at work, and i have no feelings towards him AT ALL but i go red whenever i speak to him, and i really have no idea why!

I've always blushed really easily but about a year ago it was getting a lot better. However, lately it's gotten insanely worse. Now I'll blush when I'm just at the shop or ordering coffee or talking to my best friends or just for no reason at all. It's ridiculous! With friends I don't really mind as they know I blush anyway but I'm starting work soon and I'm really worried that I'm going to be blushing constantly there. And of course, worrying about it will just make it even worse.. It's soooo annoying.

I get this and it's so annoying coz it makes you look like you're embarassed when you're not. But then people go "you're all red" which makes you go even more red...it's a viscious circle! I don't know what to do either - just try and concentrate on relaxing.
