Jack Daniels? psh. Drink some real whiskey, man.

Try some Glenmorangie or Highland Park - it's so much nicer than JD you'll be hooked straight away, and so expensive, you'll never afford the various paraphenalia, if indeed any exists.

Anyone else out there love jack daniels so much, that collecting the appropriate propaganda and drinking the whiskey comes before forming any sort of decent relationships with peeps, family and of course girls ?

For me, it's close but the combination of the two seems to be the winner...

How is JD not real whiskey? Indeed, Glenmorangie isn't a real whiskey, being that it's a whisky. But more seriously, JD is a very distinctive whiskey made in a traditional way. Without the difference between a Tenessee and a Bourbon whiskey, the US market would be very dull. And without a US market, we'd lose the nice occasional change from malt Scotch that we're used to. While personally I'd go for a Makers' Mark, JD is a damn fine whiskey, if a little overpriced and slated for the fact that it's very popular. JD's reserve malt (I forget what it's called) is actually exceptional, winning many blind tastings against the very best whiskeys in the world.

I you want a real whisky in a sense of something that'll knock you for six, being with bags of flavour and a strength that you really notice, I'd suggest Caol Ila or Laphroaig quarter-cask. The latter is particularly nice. Though personally I prefer a softer, rounder flavour for drinking on it's own, like a Glenlivet. For those heathens (like me ) who drink single malt with coke, Talisker gives a really different flavour that works for me, or Glenmorangie a very pleasant mix. But with coke nothing beats an expensive, aged Bourbon, if you can get your hands on one.

People only say JD is not a serious whiskey for the simple reason that it is so popular. I love JD.

Its made differently or something to whisky. I dunno. I spent alot of time down the j.d. factory thing when I was in Tennessee. Not much else to do.. But yeh its pretyt cool once you've seen how red-neck and stuff it actually is!
JD is indeed yummy, but it shouldn't come before relationships!
I slightly prefer bourbon to scotch, but I can still handle the cheapo Highland Reserve in Rockworld thankfully! My student bar has 'Highland Poacher' hehe. It is rightfully £1 a shot.

i like JD, but i'm much more of a chivas regal man myself. they're 18 years old and you don't need to buy them expensive gifts and give emotional support. lol i'm just kidding =P

I had my first Jack Daniels on an exchange trip to Germany, I was 15 and they didn't even ask for ID. Naturally, for a 15 year old allowed to buy spirits, that was the best night of the trip.

Jack Daniels always comes second to the Famous Grouse though.
