I just randomly asked my teachers and they've told me, albeit unofficially. I'm going to find out officially in 1 to 1 interviews soon though :s-smilie:. All my predictions have remained pretty much the same as my As grades. My biology prediction has gone up to a B, though I was 2 marks off of one. I'm pretty nervous as to what I'm going to do uni wise since all of the universities I actually want to go to ask for AAA and I'm worried they won't give me an offer :frown:

Maybe the A* will make up for it
I might ask my history teacher, need to know what I will be predicted so I know where to apply... Also, just wondering what your UMS was in the subject you got an A* prediction in - my highest AS (Geography - oh the fun of mountains and glaciers! :colone:) was 88%; hoping they'll be kind haha

Hey everyone  Another History applicant here

I'm thinking of applying too: Cambridge (AS grades is going to determine this), Royal Holloway, Kings College atm...need to think about the other two

I really enjoy Renaissance and Medieval history! Not the greatest fan of modern history so anything Pre 1800s is ideal

Your are my twin! I also love Medieval and Renaissance history and tend to stay away from recent history. And we're applying to the same unis... although I must confess that I am an Oxford applicant and Cambridge, best of luck!

Well, I'm not quite sure how it happened, but my highest UMS was also in Geography where I got 200. I'm not quite sure I deserved that but I'm not complaining as it allows me to focus on my other subjects a bit more .

Well done on that!
Sounds like me at GCSEs, highest UMS by quite a bit was in Sciences, didn't take a single science - couldn't stand 'em!

I'm applying for Warwick,Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle and Exeter.. I got A A B at AS and my predicted grades are AAA/A*AA, just waiting for history teacher to confirm if she's predicting me A* or A. What are my chances on getting on?
Right now I'm swaying towards History and German at UCL, Durham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, St Andrews

My AS results are ABB (and a B for general studies), and my predictions for next year are AAB. What do you think my realistic uni choices are? I've looked at he likes of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leicester and Sheffield, but I'm still not sure what is realistic and what is out of my reach!

bear in mind that in Scottish universities a history degree lasts for 4 years. Id say that you better apply to two universities that are above your predictions and two that are at your prediction level and 1 that is below that. To be honest your chance of getting an offer from lse, durham , st andrews , warwick and the other top 10 is very slim but still worth a try. I would aim for QMUL/SOAS/Manchester/ maybe KCL ....

I have a pretty boring question :-P
which one would you choose between Durham and LSE. Which one would you say is better?

I have this same dilemma. My opinion is Durham. Here's why:

1. For employability, while LSE edges it, both are extremely good unis
2. Does history before 1600, which LSE does not
3. Nicer location and feels less corporate

I believed LSE is much much better than durham in terms of employability.
Is durham a nice city?! Have you been there? I mean thats one of my main concerns ,have lived in central london for 3 years and i dont know how i am going to tackle with it if i go to durham.

LSE only does useful and relevant courses (like Economics, Law etc)

Durham does courses like Art History which arn't as employable

In a subject vs subject, history at durham vs history at lse, there really can't be much difference.

you have a good chance i believe. Warwick is the one which you are least likely to get an offer. Why don't you apply to UCL or Kings, you have a decent chance of getting an offer.

Do you think I have a chance at Kings? I'm predicted A*AB with the B in biology.

no you need better predicted grades. Convince your Biology teacher to predict you an A this way you are much more likely to get an offer. But I would try with these predictions although A*AA would make your chance MUCH more likely.

I really enjoy Renaissance and Medieval history!

Bristol - one of their big specialisms is Medieval.

Hi!
Does anyone know of any unis that give BBB standard offers for History

History is a very popular and hugely competitive subject. There are very few 'low entry' courses for single subject (maybe Coventry, Chichester, Hull, UCLAN ?).

If you need a 'safety' choice then look at a combined subject degree. These usually have lower entry requirements simply because there isnt so much competition for a place but are offered at Unis still considered 'sensible choice' like Keele, Bath Spa or Oxford Brookes.

Hi,

I really have a passion for history but I really did bad in my exams (I knew it as soon as I walked out my history exams as we don't do jan exams)

Basically I got a B in unit 1 and a D in unit 2 meaning overall I got a C in History ( making it my worse alevel result) which is such a shame because I worked so hard for history and actually revised most for it. I'm retaking unit 2 and aiming for an A, both my teachers and classmates were really surprised at my result as I've had A's the whole year and have always been the guy who's good in history.
I wanted to do Law at uni but I love history so much and would love study it ar uni but would any russel group uni accept me with the fact I got a D in unit 2?

For as I got ABBC ( weirdly the two B's I was just ,5 ums off an A) I'm also doing extended project.
