Hate summer for one reason

I have this problem, well its not directly a problem but it makes people think im strange, basically I feel uncomfortable showing my arms and bare skin so I always wear pants and long sleeves. I went for a jog today in tracksuit pants and a trackie top even though it was hot while everyone else had shorts and t shirt on and I was running!! Im not fat or anything quite the opposite I have a really small build and thin arms exp for a 21 year old and I just feel self concious.
Another reason why I don't take jumpers off etc is that people will notice and wonder why Ive suddenly started 'being normal' and detect that I was insecure or something, obviously im talking about people who know me. I know this sounds odd but is anyone else the same:redface:

is there a reason for this or not?

mayb you could try wearing a t-shirt in a surrounding where noone knows you. that way you can build confidence without potential 'embaressment'

Gr8 help there mate,

Yeah i get the same, i always wear full length trousers and a shirt n jacket, or at least a long sleeve shirt.
Today was a study day so went in for 2 lessons, was far too hot for my usual gear, and quite a few ppl commented i worse 3 quater lengths, didnt help went home and got straight back into full lengths.

I have no idea why cos im not fat, tho im not fit either :p: I do burn easily though, that cud be cos i cover up or the fact i have fair skin generally and lots of freckles in the sun. So the full clothes stops the burning i guess

Useful response there Zlatan...

To the OP, I think everyone has some insecurities about showing off their body, as tends to happen when it gets hot. I don't like the fact that my skin is really white as I don't tan, for example. However, I think eventually you have to just not care and do what is practical - it's not worth baking away through the summer months. Perhaps mention it, but don't make it a huge deal (since it really isn't). Just say "oh god i'm so skinny" and then laugh about it - since you've already addressed that fact and laughed it off nobody can really mention it again! Try not to stress over it, in reality people will be far more concerned about what you're thinking about their looks than rating your attractiveness, it's always the way.

Thats a good idea actually, it just seems so stupid as every other girl is walking around in sleeveless low cut tops and I have a problem with wearing a t shirt. People have started joking about it at this sports club I go so no doubt they'd be like 'omg' if I go in a t shirt. I wanna be normal:mad:

They asked if anyone else was the same and I said no, whats the problem?

"Man who wear beard will look different when man remove beard"

Force yourself to wear short sleeves and shorts and as time progresses, you will feel increasingly comfortable like that, and those around you will change their schema accordingly. It will be normal for you to wear clothes like that instead.

Well put there Abdominal.

My advice, Start wearing T-shirts, then shave the beard.

I don't wear shorts all that often but meh, I don't like my legs..but doing something like deliberately wearing long sleeved clothes when you know full well that it's boiling isn't exactly normal.

What is it about your arms and legs that makes you feel the need to hide them?

I always used to think if I showed my legs everyone would stare at them..but then I thought "hang on, what's so special about you that everyone would look at them more than any other passing randomer"..nice reality slap :p:

I don't deliberately wear long sleeves, I usually wear them and them some days get outside and think 'oh no, I should have less clothing on people will think im odd', then get reminded by the self concious issue.

Your right no one else cares if anything they are concentrating on themselves but still  I wouldn't say I have ugly arms or anything.. apart from the being thin thing I don't know what it is:confused:

shame i shaved the beard this morning, shirts are yet to come :frown:

just go somewhere anonomous and comfortable possibly no1 around or only a few, and get into shorts and shirt, once u feel comfortable do it where u normally go.

whos to say what is normal and waht isnt?:p:
if they said 'omg' would it be in a joking/banter way or a genuine disbelief?
if you want to do something you should regardless of what others are going to think. but as i said previusly, its all about building confidence slowly

It would be more disbelief than joking lol, your right its about confidence. I was fine with wearing t shirts at school as everyone was used to seeing me in one but its the people who wonder why I never wear t shirts that im uncomfortable wearing one..no idea why. I know it seems like I think im special or something but I don't, I know most people couldn't care less but still I have the problem  My muslim friend was the same but that is because of her religion (something to do with not being allowed to show herself) so no one questioned her, I have no excuse lol.
Anyway I'l take the advice, thanks:smile:
