Never, unless I really have to. I am still very much part of the music department life at my previous school, and have a job there next year one day a week, so I often go back for concerts etc. The only time I generally go home is at the end of term to take a few things back slowly, rather than a whole massive car load on the last day.

Well I don't stay during vacations, because I'm kicked out of my room (and to be honest it would be pretty **** anyway). I've been home for a weekend once each term since I've been here, usually to coincide with something like my birthday.

First term - once or twice. Second term - once every few weeks. Third term - pretty much every weekend/fortnight. Take into consideration that I live an hour from home and have a car...I could pretty much go home for dinner if I wanted to! Nothing much happens at the weekend at uni (Sussex) and as most people are from London, going home at the weekends is just the 'done' thing.

In my very first term I didn't go home at all. In my second term I went home three times (once for reading week, once for grandad's funeral, once because I was flying from Luton to see my boyfriend and it was easier to go home and stay overnight rather than take the train direct from Exeter to Luton and do it all in one day) and then Mum and Dad and my sis came to Bristol where I met them for Mothers' Day lunch. I don't think I went home at all in the third term.
This year I've been home once a term every term. Just depends on what's going on in your life at the time I guess.

Every other weekend. I have a job at home.

Reply 6

I went home once in the first term, and not at all in second or third term.

once or twice every few months. i prefer my life at uni

I'll only get to go home for Christmas and Easter break and then during summer, I guess...

My boyfriend will be coming to London every weekend, its too far for me to go back home every weekend.

Reply 10

Once in the first semester (for reading week), none in the second semester (not counting Easter).

Isn't that unfair on him? Doesn't he have a life back home?

Reply 12

Never, don't really see why I need to.

My home is only an hour away from Waterloo so i go home one weekend each month. But this year because i've not been doing any work, my mum comes up for the day once fortnight. I don't usually go home for reading week, but i do for holidays.

His was his idea and anyway he owns a business which requires him to be in London from Friday to Monday every week.

How old is your boyfriend?

Reply 16

I won't be going home at all apart from the holidays because it's five hours away and a waste of money. In second and third year I might only go home twice a year if that.

Never, in term. I wouldn't want to, it's nice being away from home and in a city (and of course the uni itself). Plus technically i'm not allowed to, have to keep a certain number of nights per term. And of course there's the small issue of a 500 mile round journey to consider. Terms are only 8 weeks, after all.

Terms are only 8 weeks, after all.

Or 10, if you're at any university other than Oxford or Cambridge...

And some are 12!... I go home quite often actually, 40-60 min drive (depending on traffic), usually go to get washing done rather than spending money in machines!!
