Best book for self-teaching statistics?

Hi,

I'll be starting University this coming October and wanted to improve my knowledge of Statistics over the summer.

I find Bostock and Chandler's Pure Mathematics 1 and 2 to be really good books for the Pure, can anyone recommend a book on Statistics like that?

Thanks

A Concise Course in Advanced Level Statistics by Crawshaw and Chambers is reasonably good. There are some errors in the answers and I found one example that was conceptually wrong. But overall probably as good as it gets.

I like this one.

If I read it more perhaps I'd know something worthwhile about statistics.
