I have suffered from a very sore throat for a couple of weeks due to a cold, but lemsips always seemed to ease the pain and help a lot!

One word: Sugar. Loads of it, you wouldn't believe how much sugar you can dissolve in a cup of lemsip.

My record is around 15 spoonfuls. I was REALLY ill that day and couldn't taste anything anyway. Leaves an iccy film on your teeth though!

Just take some paracetamol and youre getting a lemsip, well all the good thats in it for a sore throat. It will have a decongestant in as well but that wont help.
Gargle with some soluble aspirin (presuming your over 16, which i guess is not certain!), take some paracetamol, and get yourself some tyrozets tomorrow. I dont personally like them, but they are anaesthetic so if you need that, will be good idea!!!

I suggest you go to your chemist and pick up or order lozenges for severe sore throats. I can't remember the name of the ones I'm using right now. I also suggest you use Sandersons Throat Medicine - It is god awful regarding taste but extremely effective.
