What's the best type of undergraduate engineering to do before getting a masters in drilling engineering, I thought Mechanical but just wanted to be certain?

You don't need a masters in drilling engineering to get a job as a drilling engineer. Just get a degree in mechanical engineering and also some industry experience and you should at least be able to get interviews.
