I find using my teeth tends to work best

With purpose-specific toe nail clippers. I would not use any other sharp implement you may have in your posession.

You should cut the nail straight across- don't go into the corners if you want to avoid painful ingrown toenails. I'd also suggest doing it after a bath, when the nails have become slightly softer to avoid accidently clipping off a large chunk!
Oh and finally, use nail clippers, not scissors!

Indeed, or you could cut your nails whilst in the bath, so that it doesnt make a noise when you cut them, and nail pieces dont go flying off.

Whats the best way to cut your toe nails?

Get a pair of those small scissors which they sell in Tescos, the ones which ugly people use to cut themselves.

:ditto:

Ingrown toenails ****ing hurt, and despite being under local anaesthetic they can be painful to remove. I've had a couple of bad experiences - the latest case was with a whole nail being removed, I needed anaesthetic on both sides of my toe...the left side went numb very quickly, but I could still feel everything on the right side - no matter how much anaesthetic was injected into me, I could still feel it, so I eventually told the woman to cut the nail out and I'd take the pain  Not an experience I particularly enjoyed, but I'd do it again if I was stuck in that situation again; I weighed up the options of having a lot of pain for a few minutes getting the nail removed, or having a little bit less pain (but still quite a lot) for over a month before potentially being put into that position again, and I imagine I made the right choice.

Cut nails straight across and avoid going into the corners to prevent getting an ingrown toenail  In addition to the pain and swelling caused by ingrown toenails, they can also cause blood poisoning...they're most definitely not a pleasant thing to have.

... Stolen of an idea of another thread about how rediculous these can get, almost word for word. Come up with your own material.
