Well all the halls are pretty social, unless you get into Holt which is pretty far from everywhere else but even then I'm sure they have a great hall spirit. Harry French! Or Bill-Mo! There's good kind of rivalry between the two halls which always makes things fun, and they're located off-campus which means that they're nearer to town/the union which means perfect predrinks. I kind of found this year when I went to halls like Rigg-Rutt to predrink they kind of kept themselves to themselves and they're a pretty small hall anyway so I didn't really get a good vibe from them.

But yeah, HF is awesome, first in action which means you'll get to meet a lot of great people there. I had a really good first year there. All the fresher helpers were really nice and the committee (i.e. social secs, etc) were really nice too.

Bill-mo is pretty cool too, everyone I know there seems to get along well.

I think you'll find in general that the catered halls seem closer together because they have to eat together but these are just the two halls which I thought were the fun/outgoing.

Let me know if you want any more info on any of the halls :smile:

There isn't one specific hall that is more social or fun than the others. The only consistent part of the halls are the physical buildings and although the layout might contribute to how social a hall is, it won't influence it that much. A bigger impact will come from the current committee (changes every year) and how well they manage to engage with the students that move in, also the mix of people in your flat/block will have a big impact on how social it feels to you.

In every hall you will find people that want to go out every night and others who don't.

I'd suggest picking a hall based upon the following;
Catered / self catered
Room type / price
Location (close to lectures / students union / town, which ever you feel is more important)

You can't predict who else is going to end up living with you and how social your flat/block will be, if yours ends up being too quiet for you then there's nothing stopping you socialising with people from your course who are in other halls or any clubs/societies you join.

That's an off campus residence which isn't a Uni hall

Yeah I don't think it's part of university accommodation (as someone above me said)

I don't know if it's too late but you could try going through the preference system and it's more likely you'll get what you want :smile:
