Can we take banana's into long exams?

hi all, just quick query

I know we can take water into exam rooms, but are we allowed to take in and consume food and interesting drinks during the exam?

sounds stupid but it'd be helpful for 3 hours in the morning followed by 3 hours in the afternoon. (friday physics and eco/business - nuffield) :frown:

Some girl in my year took a banana and other fruit smoothie into a General Studies exam a few weeks ago, so I don't see why not.

Plus Bananas are a good source of carbohydrate, and doesn't make a noise when eating one.

In our school we're only allowed to take bottles of water, and tightly wrapped rolls of sweets like polos!

Have to be careful of regulations and so forth, you know, in case you'd written something on the skin, or even unpeeled it, put some notes inside it and done the skin back up again... exam boards gone mad.

You'll need to check with your exam centre, as they can set their own rules.

At mine we're only allowed water. No other drinks, no food, no nothing. Check with your school/college.

Wow u are really lucky... we arent allowed to take in any food or drink... we can just ask for water during the exam which they provide... :frown:

I want to take a banana with me for the physics exam on friday but i doubt they will let me...

Yeah, you will have to ask your school, they will all have different rules. Like ours you aren't allowed anything at all, and they will only give you water if you are coughing/fainting lol!!

hmm the exam board doesn't ban it and schools actually have no right to ban you from taking water in. That's an infringment of human rights! Haha maybe I am exaggerating.
We are allowed to take in whatever as long as its in a clear plastic bag or something I think or just looose if its an apple or w/e

They can ban you from taking water in, but then they have to offer it themselves.

In my RE exam last year someone took in a whole box of jaffa cakes, wrote their name on top the answer sheet and sat there eating them throughout the whole exam :biggrin:

the rustling was quite distracting though, but i think you'd be fine with a banana-ask your exams officer just in case

An apple would be quite distracting i think - youd have the whole crunch crunch of someone eating it - it would annoy me. i remember at gcse someone opened a packet of m&m's but the packet split and they went everywhere! Not funny at the time but hilarious now!

Must have been quite distracting... now that i think of it i am happy our school doesnt allow food cause i would be so easily distracted and annoyed in an exam as i am one of those people who get really stressed out...
but i agree that does sound funny... :biggrin:

In my exam centre, i usually take a bottle of ISOSTAR with me....and our centre supervisor usually lets us bring in sweets like polos, or chewing gums...I always have couple of sticks of Wrigley's extra....I havent tried taking bananas with me into the exam room though....so u better check with ur school/college....

We can only take in water as a drink and sweets that aren't rustly otherwise they wud distract.. You probably wud be allowed 2 bring a banana- ask 2 c if u r allowed.
