Extended project ideas for dentistry?

I want to do an extended project on the field of dentistry as thats what i want to do at uni, however i want to do something a bit more unique as it seems like everyone under the sun has done amalgam fillings or water fluoridation. I've been thinking of doing, how necessary is cosmetic dentistry? or is cosmetic dentistry purely aesthetic or does it aid with the functioning of teeth? but idk if its a good idea or a really ****ty one.
Advice please, or any other topic areas in this subject which may be good

Not a bad idea, you could also:

•

look at the effect water quality has on teeth (e.g. is water made by reverse osmosis bad for them?)

•

Whether sippy cups increase dental decay https://www.novasmilestogether.com/do-sippy-cups-and-bottles-promote-tooth-decay/

•

Whether bad teeth effect your job prospects

•

Whether poor dental hygiene affects covid outcomes https://www.nature.com/articles/s41415-021-2656-1
