Veruccas.

Hey everyone.

Well a couple of months ago, I noticed I had a couple of veruccas on my foot so I started using that Bazucca stuff but it didn't get rid of it. Then I noticed the veruccas had spread. Still kept trying with the Bazucca stuff but nothing happened and over the last couple of months, I have unfortunately gained myself 9 veruccas in total. 8 on one foot and 1 on the other. Thing is, a few of them are pretty painful now as they have got quite big. It's not painful all the time, just mainly first thing in the morning when pressure first gets put on them.

Anyway, I know have to go get them removed professionally but I have a seriously low threshold of pain and I really want to go to A&E to have them removed. I've also tried that new freeze spray stuff but that hasn't worked either. Some people i've spoken to have said that the only place that will remove them is the nurse at the doctors surgery. I really don't want them to use their freeze spray stuff as I just want them gone and i've heard they can be removed by scalpel or something.

Has anyone else had this problem and do you think it's possible for someone who has a real fear of this to get them removed at hospital with some pain relief?

Thank you.

They don't do it in doctors surgeries anymore as the treatment costs too much just to dish out. You can however book into your local dermatologist clinic which will be in a hospital. They have three methods of doing this. Firstly, they can freeze them off with nitrus oxide, which sometimes takes a couple of appointments to get rid of them. Otherwise, you can have them surgically removed, where they will freeze part of your foot and cut them off. Otherwise, they can numb your foot and use a hot wire to simply slice them off, depending on their size.

Nitrous Oxide i.e. laughing gas isn't used for freezing verrucas. You probably mean liquid Nitrogen.

i used to have quite bad veruccas on my feet when my school made me go swimming:frown: and i went to see a chiropodist/feet person (lol) and they got rid of them, i think they freezed them, and to minimise the risk of spreading them even more make sure that when your wearing socks if you take your socks off (for any reason during the day)that they are put back on the foot they were on before
i have them bad but am too scared.. there is a cluster on my heel and its gone all hard, so i am using a foot file to getsome of that away and then ill go and see someone.. i did go to the doctor a while ago and the nurse told me there were no "alive" varruccas there anymore, filed it down a bit and sent me on my way.. she was obviusly wrong.. grrr
Yeah, just go to a chiroposist and they'll freeze-spray them, it doesn't hurt. In fact, I need to get some veruccas sorted out...

...and my mum's a chiropodist

Nitrogen Freezing is amazing. I've never had it done, but it felt cool when I stuck my hand in a machine that had some in. Cold stuff.

Anyway, good luck with that
I've been using stuff a bit like Bazuka - it's been absolutely ****e, all it's done is cover it in an annoying layer of white stuff so it doesn't spread to other places. Just changed to using the freezy stuff. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt at all... remember the verruca you're trying to freeze is your enemy! So don't worry that you're damaging it, that's the idea!

Only problem is it's damn expensive, costs £12 for a kit with 12 uses... Each verruca is supposed to take up to 4 applications maximum (one every two weeks) so with 9 you could be looking at a lot of money!
Definately use wartner best stuff on the market, and one tin will do you 6 veruccas, i had one that was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo deep that my doctor said it needed cutting out but, i used wartner and it went within 3 weeks.

Best stuff out

I had veruccas for over a year. The chiropodist was a waste of time as they put Occlusal (a chemical) on every time which was a sealant and did not remove them. They kept making excuses everytime saying it would work - that was just to get me to go back and being a student and all them visits were costly. The best stuff is Wartner, I used it. Costly, but removes them and I only had to use it once and my verrucas were painful. Best to sand as much as you can off first but try not to let them bleed. I'de rather buy the Wartner and have the problem solved. Get someone to wear gloves and put the stuff on for you. It doesn't hurt only tingles a little.

just a warning about Liquid Nitrogen, it may remove the verruca but wont always get rid of it. For reasons i dont know they can come back same place even after apparently being gone.....
Happened to a friends verruca and one on my hand.

Chiropodists sort out loads of problems (different ones do different things as well) but anything like that isn't done by a chiropodist, basically anything surgical. You do get NHS chiropodists, but a chiropodist wouldn't sort out hammertoes - where do you have to pay £2000?
I had quite a few verrucas on my feet like the op. Went to the drs and the the nurse froze them off - was no good at all, in fact absolute rubbish! I tried Wartner and that didnt work so desparate I booked into my local chiropodist. He gave me a three stage freezing treatment for £75, a bit pricy but it did the trick. Each session the freeze treatment got deeper and got the core of the verruca by session 2. I had the 3rd treatment just to be sure the complete core had gone. The pain wasnt that bad after all, not much to withstand compared with the pain theyd been giving me for ages. I definately reccommend it.

I remember that when I had mine removed, they burnt it. Literally it was a huge flame. I didn't feel anything, and it was amazing as it just burnt off.

Well I cant really spend that much money as i haven't got a job at the mo and got a holiday coming up in a couple of months time so would rather put up with them and have money for my holiday than the other way round.

I am pretty scared of the pain of some of these treatments, i'm not gonna go to the nurse and get her to freeze it off if it doesn't work. Did any of you get any pain relief for any of these treatments?
Reply 16
I didn't, as it wasn't really needed. I'm sorry, but I think verruccas are more important to treat, then your holidays. If these things spread, your in trouble.
Reply 17
no i know but i really dont have £75 to spend on these. i seriously dont have any money to play with as ive got my car to pay for.
Reply 18
You have to pay?
I just went to my local doctor once a week for a while, he froze them off no problem. I suggest you get them treated sooner rather than later, I mean they're only going to get worse...

What works for other may differ to you. Health is more important than money. Not all treatments will be expensive.
