getting my legs waxed for the first time in a salon on Tuesday....aaaaah!!!!

Hi guys, as you can see from the thread title I'm a bit freaked out!! Shaving my legs pretty much every day in summer is starting to piss me off so I'm going for a leg wax (also cos my boyfriend is coming to stay :p: ) and I just need to know - does it hurt loads?! I have quite a low pain threshold! Plus I wanted an appointment for 1pm but couldn't get one until 4pm, my boyfriend's arriving at 8pm. Will the post-waxing redness be gone by then?
Still, I've booked a pedicure afterwards for my 'something nice' while I recover from the pain

i tried waxing my legs at home for the first time the other day and it doesnt hurt that much,it just stings a little bit, dunno if it'll be the same in a salon, sorry

It's a nice pain, like a plaster really. Stings a little but then it's over. Not really a big deal at all. And i have a very low pain threshold too!

I don't have the guts to have my leg waxed lol, I have wanted to try it though but doubt I will, I don't think it will hurt that much if a professional does it, But I dunno depends how you cazn deal with pain lol.

i'm sure the pain will be worth it! i really want a salon wax but 40 quid.. urgh.

It doesn't cost anything like that much - at professional salons round here a half leg wax is £20 total, and at the beauty college where I'm going on Tuesday (and where the students are nearly as good as the pros) it only costs £7.50 total.

Reply 7

40 quid is for both full legs.. grr.

This beauty college does both full legs for £20...seriously, shop around. Haven't you got a training college near you that might need people to practise on?

Personally I don't think it's that painful but I think it depends on individuals

I'm having mine done towards the end of the month before I go on holiday and am quite nervous!

Have you had anything waxed before? I have my eyebrows waxed regularly and this hurts me very little, the stinging makes my eyes water a bit, that's all.

I think even if it does hurt, think how much easier it is than shaving your legs all the time! I'm tall so have long legs which annoys me even more when I'm shaving!

I think the redness should go down - I think it depends on your skin really? I know my eyebrows don't go red but my friend's go bright red! Even so, would your boyfriend mind if they were still a bit red?

I am a serial waxer, & I've found it really doesn't hurt that much (obviously, or I'd never return :p:) although the bad news is, it'll probably hurt more the first time than any other, as it's a new experience. Still, it's not THAT bad, although your legs *may* look a little red for the rest of the day.
On the good side, the wax will probably last you about a month

Could you please stop posting in text speak? It's against the rules, and it's harder to read.

well, the redness normally lasts for a few hours but legs only look really good the next day....

having your legs waxed hurts the first time, but its not as bad as everyone makes out it to be hehe! it really hurts on the shin, but its fine on the thighs. it generally hurts less on the legs than in other more sensative areas like eyebrows! and its just the best feeling when you walk out of the salon and have silky smooth legs!! so definitely worth it. btw i would suggest rinsing them with water when you come home cos the smell of tea-tree is really strong, and just put lotion on after to reduce the redness!
