Pictures of Pooley House and information.

Hey, I remember struggling to find any decent pictures of QMUL, especially inside halls, so I'm posting these pictures to give people an idea of what Pooley House (where I lived last year) is like!

The pictures are:
1. The door and wardrobe.
2. Desk area - its bigger than it looks in the picture, I fitted my tv, computer and printer quite easily.
3. Bed and window area.
4. The ensuite bathroom.
5. The view from our kitchen (6th floor) shows most of the student village.
6. Kitchen.

I think its a really nice place, the buildings are modern and clean and the rooms are quite spacious for halls. The rooms vary in shape, mine was an odd shape, with a wall seperating it into 2 areas, but most are rectangular.

Pooley houses 9 students in each flat (apart from ground floor flats) and the 9ensuite rooms in each flat and kitchen are all off of a main corridor. There is no living room or social room, but the kitchen is quite big - it has 2 sinks and 2cookers and a dining table. There are 2 freezers in the kitchen but you get your own fridge in your room.

The only problems I had with Pooley were the fire alarms which are loud, frequent and often in the middle of the night! Also we had a couple days without water on 2 occasions, which was awful, but hopefully they've sorted that now.

For more general pictures that you won't find in the prospectus, try the student union website:

Cool pics.
I was about to say before I saw the last photo, that I'd be worried if you were a bloke. Could you see the City from Pooley as well? I know you can from France House.

So are you back in accommodation this forthcoming term or have they turned you down? I know you get the opportunity in 1st 3rd and 4th years, but I know QM has also denied a load of people from as far away as Bedford and Brighton!
I guess that's the problem with the only campus Uni in London.

Hehe yeh I'm a girl, I'm not in that pic though, thats 2 of my friends. Yeh we had a great view of canary wharf from Pooley, although I expect thats only on the upper floors. I'm moving into a private flat next year with a few friends, they very rarely give places in halls to 2nd years, apart from stewards.
What yr are you in? Are you living on campus next yr?
omg theres no shower tray!

Ah - thought you were in 2nd year judging by your comment of 'lived there last year', hence the reason why I thought you would be living in halls again for the 3rd year

I'm in the final year; thank god. I've just had about enough of studying, and doing anything like a PhD is making my head spin. So calling it a day

Just wish the ongoing slouching and general dossing about could be brought forward to the real world.

Nope theres no shower tray, its more of a 'wet-room' than a bathroom, so the whole room is waterproof and the floor slants very slightly towards the drain.

Pooley & France house definately have ensuites, I think some of the others do too. It should tell you on the accomodation form.

Do you have your results yet walshie? Good luck with them anyway!
We haven't been given a date for our results.

I've been informed 'no sooner than the 26th June'. I can fortunately access them via the VPN, which means I can cry my eyes out on my own whilst getting hammered on Stella.

Humanities departments were (I believe) a major player in the industrial action, so times could vary. They should be ready as it was reported via Email on the 7th June that the strike was called off. Good luck too

I'm sure Beaumont is next door to Creed Court and opposite Sir France House in the main Westfield Student development also adjacent to the convenience store.

Picture attached.
The green building is Sir Christopher France House. The first building on the right is Creed Court. The second dwelling just a little further down and the same structure as Creed is Beaumont Court.
The building at the end of the photo which has a wooden appearance is the brand new Feilden House (however you spell it - or his name to be precise).

NOO! That was just a stupid place to put a large window ledge! I'm so frightened one day I'll get called to pick up the splat that a drunken fresher made by climbing on there. DON'T DO IT! 8 stories is really high
Thanks for the pics  they don't really have anything like that on the uni site. V helpful *throws rep*
