Baisser, baiser

I apologise now if I've got this completely muddled up, but anyway...

Just came back from holiday in France. I read on the door of the hotel 'si vous êtes dans la fumée, baissez-vous' but I remember when watching 'la haine' that Saïd wrote 'baise la police'. I know there's the difference of 1 s, but how do you say it so not to cause confusion or embarrassment?

Also, the pronunciation of neck... can somebody give me a phonetic spelling? Again, I am very conscious of pronouncing words wrong and I wouldn't think anyone would want to know if I had a pain the **** lol.

baiser=to **** and is pronounced bé-zér
baisser= to lower and is pronounced base-sér

as for cou and cul, cou is like the english coo (like a bird), whereas cul is pronounced cuhl with the "l" barely pronounced.

heh, my friend was at a barbeque in france and she tried to say thank you to the guy hosting it and instead of "merci beaucoup" she said "merci, beau cul"

My teacher told us the baisser/baiser thing with very ... graphic hand gestures. Frankly, it was disturbing.
