Being a fussy eater is ruining my life

Try to gradually introduce new foods into your diet, or try things in a step-by-step way? So for example if you hate pizza but like cheese on toast, try adding some sliced tomatoes to the cheese on toast, then some tomato puree and gradually things like meat/peppers or whatever.
I'm like this too. I can't actually go out for a meal ha. But it doesn't bother me, I just take some fruit in a pot and say I have allergies, which is also part true.
Try seeing a dietician?
Trust me I know how you feel, I have loads of food allergies and because of them I've built up intolerances to certain other food, which can get really annoying at times. But I've found that if you're open about it and tell people it is a genuine problem and not you just being snobby people are cool about it. About the going out for a meal thing, I had the same issue! That's why I just started cooking meals at my house and inviting people around instead, that way I still get to spend time with ,my friends and won't have to worry about food.
i'm the same but the other way around - i'm fussy about "healthy" foods
recently though i've found the more i eat of something the more i get used to it and actually ENJOY the food?
like i'd try food and say i don't like it but for example, for weeks i'd force dried strawberries down me. i'd nibble on each one and it would take me ages to eat the bag but now i eat them like sweets! same with brown bread, i'd have to nibble but now i actually love the taste
like not even "don't mind" - i love the taste ha
so i would try eating the food you don't like and is common to be eaten at a restaurant and you might learn to enjoy them?
I relate so much, except that my fussyness extends to all foods, healthy and unhealthy. I probably could count on my fingers the foods I can eat. Sigh. I've always been like this. Most foods just make me gag :frown:

I've got a similar problem. Even when I try new foods, I tend to gag and have to spit them out, even if I'm okay with them (I had some leek and potato soup a few weeks ago, quite liked it, it tasted nice, but it came back up five minutes later).

To compound matters, my university accommodation is entirely catered. Why I thought that was a good idea, I'll never know.

Firstly, if its genuinely about textures for you then you are not a fussy eater. You probably have food texture based hypersensitivity. My daughter has hypersensitivuty issues and I remember the school support worker talking about food textures issues being one facet some people have. There are a lot of websites out there that can give advice as well as research papers on the subject. All my info is for children though, sorry. Just know that it's probably not you just being fussy though.
Usually being a fussy eater goes back into childhood and is caused by something. I would know, I am one too  Seeing a dietitian would be a good idea, as there are actually people who specialise in making fussy eaters well... normal  I usually wouldn't recommend something like this, my fussiness is irritating but it doesn't mean people have to change things that much (just leave things out), but if it is having a negative impact on your life and you're unhappy then trying to get some sort of help sounds like a good idea.

There was a program on fussy eaters a while ago. There was one woman who only ever ate chips. No, really.

In any case, the general idea would be to find out why you don't like certain foods and then try to incorporate new things slowly into your diet, as well as to try as many things as you can - keeping an open mind. If you don't like "unhealthy" foods, then every time you see something like pizza you'll tell yourself you won't like it before you've even got it near your mouth, and that's probably the reason why you don't like it.

This will also help you keep a hot body, eating fruit instead of a 3 course meal

This is the problem I have, which extends to only eating foods in certain formats. (ie, won't eat a sandwich with a tomato in; but will eat a pizza, use ketchup, etc)

I'm the same I thought I was weird I hate pizza, can only eat garlic pizza nothing else cant have tomtato puree or sauce, I hate pasta, spaghetti, mince, rice, stews, indian & chinese food, stir frys etc cos the texture makes me want to throw up. I love potatoes, veg & salads, I do eat meat too I should add. I've been trying to slowly add new things to my diet but it's not working very well

edit: just reading all these food texture hypersensitivity things and that sounds exactly like me I will only eat solid foods, nothing lumpy or liquidy as said I just cant eat pasta and spaghetti it makes me feel genuinely ill thinking about it. I will eat soup though and gravy in small quantities but I cant have soup or yoghurts with veg/fruit pieces in etc

Am a fussy eater, for as long as I remember. My main problem in vegetables I can't stand them and am not keen on fruit but will eat some. I can be quite fussy over sauces so don't like pasta. I never used to eat pizza as I didn't like tomato purée. But ever since I had a pizza with BBQ sauce I liked pizza. I started to eat food which has BBQ sauce on and cheese. I made progress over years. Food I used too hate, I started to enjoy as an adult.
