After just under a year of learning the basics, I'm ready to start printing some of my photos. Primarily, I want to make a few of my better shots into presents for family members but I'm also considering entering some competitions.

Unfortunately, I don't really know where to start. Currently I'm back in the UK but I'll be in Prague again soon. I'd like to get a few prints done over the weekend. I've had a look online, and it seems to be quite a bit more expensive than I anticipated.

My questions are: assuming I was entering a competition, what sort of size, paper and other variables should I be looking at? (I know some competitions specify, but as a general rule?) Also, can anyone recommend a decent, reasonable option for prints?

    All help appreciated.
