I go to University of Leicester and I'm in my first year of Engineering

I got the marks of

Mathematics with Computation 36
Mechanics 35
Electronics 34

Now I need 40% or more to pass so I have to resit

I've been told resits are capped at 40% but I don't really understand that term. I know that maximum mark you can get is 40%

so for example
If there are 5 questions on the exam, do I only need to get 2 questions right to pass (like in the original exam)

or since I'm retaking and max mark is capped at 40% do I have to get all 5 questions right to pass since max mark is 40%.

Thanks in advance for all your help, I'm a little paranoid

If you get 40% you pass, if you get anything over 40% you pass but the extra percentage over 40 isn't counted.

This 'limit on improvement' to stop you having any immediate advantage over those who havnt retaken - and discourage any student who thinks 'I'll just retake that one to get a better mark/classification'.
