High street jeans - RATE THEM!

Which are actually decent quality?

I've tried:

Warehouse: okay fit, didn't last brilliantly, material starting to go fuzzy which I dislike immensely. Shame because I did kinda like them. They seemed to sit very high and dug into my hip bones yet were loose around my stomach, argh. Thank God I didn't pay full price for them, so not worth it.
New Look: NO, never again
Primark: Cheap, but worse than New Look
Topshop: okay, never tried their skinny jeans. Their black skinny trousers seem good though, but have not had them for long.
Miss Selfridge: okay, never tried their skinny jeans

Non high street:

Tommy Hilfiger: Very, very good. Excellent fit, very flattering and comfortable. They lasted for ages and I am sad to see them wearing out. I would not hesitate to buy them again if I had the opportunity and the price was reasonable.
Diesel: Best jeans I ever had (apart from the above, both Diesel and TH are great). Low waisted, fit well, VERY comfortable, perfect cutting and flattering. I still have these but can't wear them (weight fluctuations) which is very sad really as I can't afford new ones. I got these on sale for only £30! Unfortunately the shop which sold such fabulous bargains has since closed =(

Please add your own comments for different shops/brands! Also, if they're for men or women.

Dorothy Perkins: OK, but the sizing can be weird! I tried some skinny leg ones (I didn't realise) and I couldn't get my legs into em. So my size 6 sister tried, and she couldn't get her legs into them either!

Jasper Conran: Perfect! I think these jeans must suit everyone.

Gap - have lasted me ageees, really comfy, but for a tall girl like me, its hard to find the right size (i.e. they're long enough but dont fit around the waist properly - the next waist size down were too short...grr)

Topshop do jeans by leg length so if you have short legs (like me!) it's not too hard to find some to fit. I know they do 30 and 32, they may even do 28? I'm 5'5 with quite short legs and 32 length seems just right.
topsop dont do my size
H&M- Some of the comfiest jeans I've ever bought, very soft denim, casual jeans for just being lazy in.

Marlboro, and tesco. Now those tesco pair were amazing £3 and bloody comfy. I feel like a builder every time I where them.
h&m jeans suck they fall apart and form holes in mean places...

LEVIS however are amazing and last forever! and u buy them according to length and waist!

River Island: Last pair I bought (which was a few years ago) the jean material was stretchy which I didn't like, also found they kept riding down even though they were the right size :frown:
Went in there recently and found they're sizing quite strange and the assistant in the changing room was really unhelpful

Zara: Nice jeans and relatively cheap compared to some places but they're sizes are really small! which gets annoying when you have to go for a size bigger than you are.

Republic: Really nice and comfy but I found as I lost weight that they got looser on the waist but were still fitting on my legs, which I found quite strange.

Levis: Fit nicely and good material although I have found their sizes a little bit smaller (round the waist) than other jean makers. Only other problem I had with them is that I've found there's a bit of excess material (i.e. they think I should fill out a bit just as the legs start which I don't so I have a little bit of material which looks a bit strange but maybe thats just me).

Lee: In my opinion the best I've had, they fit really well, nice material, long lasting. Flattering to figure, I've got they're straight leg ones. Good price considering the make i.e. jeans in River Island cost around £45 pounds, my Lee jeans cost £55, so not too bad.

Lei: Really soft material, long lasting, fit well but not too flattering (especially they're light blue colours) they hug my thighs a bit too much for my liking.
French Connection: Best ever, I love FC jeans, I own about three pairs. They last ages and have a really nice fit. The only thing is, you need to be true to the size. I'm inbetween sizes at the moment, and the smaller size is too small, and the bigger size is huge! which is helluva annoying since i actually need a new pair of jeans...

Replay same as above really. Except with my recent shrinkage, im gutted =( cos they're too big now! But they do do inbetweeny sizes.

Fat Face Good quality, gotta be careful washing them though, they can get a bit stiff. Great fit.

river island do some ace styles, quite different to other high street shops with quirky little details that i love. although often a bit overpriced. i find they're a really good fit though and they have every height/size combo in the one nearest to me.

my faves though are some old topshop ones  oh and a pair of really baggy levis, best ever.

D2 - They didnt last past the changing rooms. The fly broke instantly. Although the design is quite nice. Very cheap aswell.

Officers Club - Nice jeans, but not much style range. Cheap, but wearable

Ben Sherman - best pair of jeans i own (despite the fact there is now a rip on the seat, despite my total lack of arse). Very stylish, werent toooo expensive (37.50 with student discount ) and have lasted ages.

To be honest, you get what you pay for as far as jeans go. More expensive = better fitting and more stylish generally.

Edit: I might not be the number one POSTING male now...since it took me a while to write the post. Thats said....im still #1 male

New Look - flattering shape in skinnies but oh my god they get absolutely massive. I probably won't buy another pair as I now have 1 pair of black skinnies (my only pair in black) that I can't wear as they're too big, and a pair in grey that are going the same way. I got a blue pair a size down, which are holding their own so far.

River Island - never been a fan, the cut is a tad strange

Topshop - I've tried on skinny jeans which looked awful on me. Then I tried on a pair from the tall section which looked good. I have a pair of skinny Topshop trousers which are an amazing fit everywhere apart from... they sag at the butt. Nothing but very hot washing will get rid of it, and it comes back in a few hours.

Warehouse - skinnies aren't as good as Topshop in terms of fit, in my opinion. They also don't do lengths which is not a plus.

I'm going to try a pair of Lee jeans next.
Best Jeans I've seen that fitted PERFECTLY on women, Seven For All mankind.
Expensive but yes

BHS: I bought three pairs of normal indigo bootcut jeans from here for £15 a pair and they are fab, they fit brilliantly, they wash well and haven't faded at all in 6months. I constantly have people asking me where I got them from.
I think its impossible to get a perfect pair of jeans--everyones slating New Look but I got a pair the other day and they were ok--but seriously finding a good pair of jeans is impossible!!
Gap- best fitting jeans I've ever had, really flattering and two out of three pairs have lasted me well over a year now. I'm a fan of low rise (which aren't stupidly low, they rest on your hips), which are usually in a flared style. The left weave denim ones feel great too, but you have to make sure you get the right length because the fray easier than normal denim.

Next- Fit well, but slightly higher up than I'd go for otherwise. Different leg lengths though, which is a plus.

Never really tried any others. I'm a Gap Jeans person through and through!

I think it's all a matter of personal choice, alot of people are saying how good gap jeans are but I've had nothing but trouble with them in the past. I used to buy Next jeans alot but they didn't have the range of styles I was after this year so I looked else where. I find the key with looking for new jeans is to just go everywhere and try on everything.
