I have an interview on Monday and I'm not sure what to wear! I was thinking of black ripped jeans, white vest, black sandals or pink with gold jewellery. Also what questions are asked and what should I expect my interviews for Oxford Street

Anybody here working for them/have worked for them/got an interview with them?
I've just had my induction today, and thought it went pretty well. I'll be working in the Menswear department.
So if anyone has any application/interview queries they'd like answered, then don't be afraid to post them below.

hiii! if your ''application is being processed'' on the portal for about a week, does that mean you're on hold? I had an interview monday, but haven't heard back so guess I didn't get that- that one still says ''you have an appointment on 22 july''

Hi!
Sorry for the super late reply. I think pink sandals sound fantastic; it adds a little bit of colour to your outfit. :yep:
You should expect the recruitment event to include yourself and about fifteen other applicants. You'll all be asked to introduce yourselves and name one thing you're passionate about. Then you'll be split into two groups, and will be given three questions to solve as a group before the manager brings you all together to discuss the questions. I can't remember all three questions, but one was "How would you ensure good customer service?" and "How would you use your knowledge of fashion to help promote RI?". During the time in which we were discussing the three Q's, the manager brought each of us out to have a short 1-on-1 interview.
The questions I got asked included:
"What would your friends/employers describe you as?"
"Give an example of when you worked in a team."
"Give an example of when you worked towards a target successfully."
"Give an example of what repercussions you took when a customer was left dissatisfied with a product/service."
"name an outfit you're really passionate about."

And I think that's all I can remember! If it's not too late for you, try and search up "River Island interview questions" on google and a list of helpful links should pop up.
Again, good luck!

Hi!
At the end of the interview you should have been told by the manager when you'd expect to receive a phone call. I remember that even after being offered the job, my application was still being processed for that role, so unfortunately I think it's just a glitch.
Hopefully you'll have heard back by now and gotten the job!

No I'm on hold for the location I was interviewed for and my application is still being processed for another one I applied for- after like 10 days, for my interview one I got contacted for a recruitment event the day after I applied!

Oh, well it seems like you've already landed yourself another recruitment event/interview for another position.
Congrats. :h: How do you feel your first interview went? Perhaps if you try and take notes of anything you might have done wrong during the initial interview, you could be ten times better in your second one.

Do you think?? I just don't get why they haven't processed my application after a couple of weeks- maybe I'm just on hold for my original location. Thanks so much dark paradise! yeah I lost out to a girl who'd previously worked at river but they still said I was a good candidate  x

ugh river hr are such a bore- I've had two head office applications pending for weeks, and three store apps. I know that in the case of job apps, no news is bad news, but I really don't think I've been rejected for them. I applied for two store roles that were ridiculously far away from where I live, and was rejected within hours, and a competitive head office role, where I was rejected within a day. I think I should at least be invited to a recruitment event for the store roles, seeing as I got one for the store role I'm on hold for- hr have ignored my email, phone call AND tweet :frown:

The best thing to do would be to wait it out; don't infuriate them further by calling constantly, as that won't look good on your part. My own manager really hates it when applicants call as RI is nearly always extremely busy, so running for calls only to realise its applicants wanting to know whether they're in or not is pretty annoying for her.
For now, I'd concentrate on applying to other places and always staying active by constantly applying to jobs. Don't stop just because a position might pop up; you're not 100% sure, so if you dont want to waste your time waiting, apply apply apply to other places.

The minimum age for any contracted job in the UK is 16 as you have to be on minimum school leaving age. You also have to have a National insurance card/number

Do they take on 15 year olds?

I answered this in the one above. No. Nowhere does. You have to be 16 to get a contracted job in the UK.

Hi I know this post is 9 years old however I’m looking for some answers. Last week I applied and got an interview immediately, I went and it went really well. However on the application it advertised 20hours but when I applied I stated that I can only do 12 hours over 3 days (they advertised 20 over 5 days)

Despite them knowing of my low availability they still called me for an interview. Now it’s been 2 working days and I haven’t had a call back.

But they did mention in the interview they would have part time hours available too and will be recruiting however they will be fulfilling the 20hour contracts first..

Is there any chance that I may still be hired ??

I mean I was one of the strongest candidates in the interveiw as out of the twelve only 3 were actually talking, me being one of them.

So I’m abit surprised I haven’t been called. But then again maybe they may call me later? Is this possible?

Also the email they used to email me for the interview is very odd

[email protected]

So there is no way I can check the update of my application as I applied directly from the careers website and there was no account to go back check applications or current ones.

I’ve called customer Servuce and they can’t help as they don’t deal with HR. Nor can they give me a number or email.

Called up the stores but no one answers
So I’m abit stuck.

I don’t want to take up another offer of work when I really would like this job instead as I love retail and the hours (10-2) were very convenient for me.
